Did you know that the world’s largest Swiss Army knife has 85 attachments, including a fish scaler, toothpick and watch back opening tool? But you can have too much of a good thing. So we have seven attachments on the Versatool and they are exactly the tools you will need for all your gardening jobs. Fancy yourself as a topiarist? The art of topiary, cutting hedges into clever shapes, was brought to Europe by the Romans and has gone in and out of fashion ever since. The Victorians were very keen on teapots and birds and a North London architect called Tim Bushe (yes, really!) has transformed his neighbourhood with hedges cut as Chinese dragons, a steam train and a herd of elephants. With a Versatool hedge trimmer attachment you could let your imagination run riot…
No more wobbly stepladders
Every year an estimated 6,000 people end up in A&E after tumbling off ladders in their gardens. No surprise really: ladders are often positioned on uneven ground, and we stretch and reach more than we should to get to the top branches of hedges and trees. (We also let them grow too high, nearly 3 million hedges in the UK are over two metres high). With Versatool you can get extension shafts, of 50cm and 1 metre, for cutting the most towering branches down to size. We will help you stop gardening becoming a pain, literally.
Dig for victory
If you’re a veg grower, you’ll know that the secret to getting great produce out of the ground is properly aerated soil. More and more of us are growing our own, in gardens or allotments – there’s a waiting list of around 30 for every allotment in the UK.
