We know that sticking to New Year’s Resolutions is hard. You may have made some and fallen off the wagon already, or maybe never even tried because you know you won’t stick to them. But we have found a way to make it fun, here’s how to turn all those things we think we should do into things we really want to do.

Get fit and healthy
Cycling is one of the best forms of exercise, gentler than jogging, and cheaper than a gym membership (unless you’re a Mamil – middle aged man in lycra – who spends more on bikes than he does on his car). Research has found that cycling boosts immunity, brain power and energy, and it helps you lose weight. Go to www.sustrans.org.uk for quieter cycle paths where you won’t have to worry about traffic. A new bike-friendly concept car was unveiled by Honda at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The Civic Tourer Active Life has an extendable loading rack with space for two bicycles sitting side by side. Also included is an air pump, a retractable workbench and space inside for toolboxes and waterbottles. Let’s hope we see it in production soon!

Get outdoors
Don’t turn into a couch potato just because the weather’s grim. Get out into the great outdoors for a walk and you will feel loads better. It’s the best way to get quality family time, chatting and enjoying time together without distractions. Yes it will probably be muddy, but Honda HR-V and Civics have a welly compartment in the boot so you don’t have to get it all over the car.

Try something new
Racing along on top of the waves is one of the ultimate thrills. Make it an aim this year to try it, if you haven’t already. Go to www.sabermarine.com for details of the Honda Powerboat Experience in Southampton. But be careful – you may get hooked!

Spend more time with friends and family
What do you like doing most in your garden? Relaxing, chatting, eating, drinking, playing games? Yes of course – it’s the best part of the spring and summer. The worst part? Mowing the lawn! We spend two months of our lives doing this boring job when we could be enjoying ourselves. So make this the year you invest in the Miimo – it will mow your lawn so you don’t have to.

Save money
Camping is having its cool moment. It’s not just because it’s cheaper, it’s more fun too, say fans. More and more of us are taking to the road with our trusty tents and caravans – the boom fuelled by the fashion for ‘glamping’, a younger generation who have got a taste of life under canvas at music festivals and the trend for authentic, natural experiences rather than one-size-fits-all offerings. You’ll find useful kit lists on camping websites and if you want to make your tent a home from home, make sure you pack a Honda generator.

Learn a new skill
Testing your abilities, challenging yourself and getting that amazing adrenaline rush when you succeed – it’s not only fun but also good for your health and well-being. Our new Honda Adventure Centre is where you can test ride adventure bikes and learn from expert instructors how to master the art of downhill turns, hill climbs and advanced riding positions. You also get the chance to try a range of Honda bikes including the new Africa Twin. The centre is in Wales on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and courses are run at three skill levels, starting on March 3, 2016.
